University of California Press has recruited Mitchell Korn as a peer reviewer for an academic publication concerning musicians and the music business.
As a Faculty VUceptor, Professor Korn assists entering Vanderbilt students in their transition into university studies and life. He will meet weekly with his team of students and offer guidance and support.
Mitchell Korn will develop a five-year education and community engagement plan for the Hartford Symphony. He will conduct a stakeholder process and research the education and greater needs of the Hartford region. He will produce a specific strategy for greater and more authentic and sustainable services by the Hartford Symphony for the diverse Capital Region communities.
The New Cleveland School of the Arts
Mitchell Korn and MitchellKornArts have been selected to educationally design the new Cleveland School of the Arts, which will be built at University Circle near The Cleveland Orchestra’s Severance Hall, The Cleveland Museum of Art and Case Western Reserve University. Assisted by Dr. Robert Horowitz, Yolande Spears, Dr. Reka Rajan, Dr. Dan Serig and Melanie Gober Grand, the team will create the curriculum, faculty design, admission and audition process, partnerships, alignment with the Cleveland Schools Transformation Plan, career and higher education pathways and more. A public/private partnership, the school and its partners are committed to becoming an international arts school model.
MitchelKornArts to Simultaneously Design City-Wide Arts Education Plan
MitchellKornArts will simultaneously design a systemic plan to strategize and support arts education for all Cleveland schools and children. This synergistic work is unique in decades of American arts education history and reflects the deep commitment and vision of Cleveland philanthropy, arts organizations, higher education and public school leadership.
MitchellKornArts has just completed a plan for the Portland Symphony: ‘Music Education in Portland, The Portland Region and Maine- The Creation of a Music Education Eco-System Laboratory and Five Year Plan for Replication.” They are also currently working on a plan for the Winston-Salem Symphony and initiating a plan for the Pensacola Symphony.
Mitchell Korn will teach five courses at Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music this coming semester; will guest lecture at Curtis Institute; provide the Parents Day speech at Vanderbilt University and continue to work with The Governor’s Office, Books from Birth, with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, providing literacy and the arts workshops to parents in a pilot initiative throughout Tennessee.
